Install N-Gage Apps On Any S60v3 Device

Install the new N-Gage Application on the unsupported Phones N73, N93 and N93i

You know that the N-Gage arena has finally gone live some days ago. Pretty quiet, with a delayed and unspectacular little message. Actually I expected the start of the long awaited gaming platform a little bit different…

Anyway, similar to the unspectacular kind of announcing the arena’s launch has been the extent – only five games and five suported devices. Currently only the N81, N81 8GB, N82, N95 and N95 8GB are supported.

However, announced to be supported have also been the N73, the N93 and N93i which are currently listed as “Coming soon”.

These should be because these devices are not supporting a 270° rotation mode which many games are using to provide a control feeling we know from different gaming consoles. Seems like the three mentioned Nseries phones won’t be officially supported until a firmware update will be released which adds the lacking rotation mode.

Anyway, the post’s title isn’t completely correct. Actually you don’t install the same application as you would for the supported phones.

It’s just a little simple trick and very easy indeed:

You only have to download this package containing two files: the first one is the normal N-Gage First Access application I have extracted using this method. After installing it, you must consider that there are only a few files missing to transform it to the application which runs actually only on supported devices. After installing the second N-Gage auto start file, you have a fully working N-Gage application!

At the moment, there are only “Asphalt 3″ and “Brain Challenge” which weren’t part of First Access, but if you like these two game it’s already a nice thing to be able to play them, isn’t it? Just download them from The N-Gage Website and you will be able to install both of them and of course also all the other released games.
Especially in the future, with the upcoming titles ”ONE” and “FIFA 08″ this could be a really useful trick for all N73, N93 and N93i users.

I don’t have a device which is among the non supported ones, so I wasn’t able to try this myself. However, somebody already confirmed me that this method is working, although there are of course problem with 270° rotation mode. Please leave a comment if it also works for you.
